Title: The Alchemist
Author: Paulo Coelho
Genre: Classic, Fantasy
A Sentence Review:
A young shepherd dreams of travel in search of a treasure, and learns various life-lessons from various people along the way.
And there you have it?
Apologies for the short sentence, I was uninspired by this book and was remarkably underwhelmed. In my opinion, and it seems to many others as well, it came across incredibly preachy and it’s questionable if the “moral of the story” is morally correct. I’d recommend reading some of the reviews on goodreads to get an idea of why, if you’re okay with spoilers. I wouldn’t recommend The Alchemist. You’d have a much better use of your time reading something else I reckon!
But, as always, don’t take my word for it! Every book deserves an equal chance to be loved, and no one’s tastes are the same. We all have different experiences, and that’s the wonderful beauty of books! What I disliked, you might love because something touched you in a way only you can explain. 💕
So give The Alchemist a shot! I get my books from Book Depository cause it’s the cheapest place, and this way I don’t feel so bad when I blow money on books I didn’t enjoy so much. You can get the same pretty cover version of The Alchemist cheap-cheap here.
Did you enjoy The Alchemist? Leave a comment and we can have an enlightened conversation. Or maybe commiserate over how the author is one-dimensional and ignorant to collective morality.
Ouch. Too harsh? The cover art for this print is beautiful though.
