A casual comparison of Burt’s Bees’ Ultra Conditioning Lip Balm with Kokum Butter and the classic Beeswax Lip Balm with Vitamin E and Peppermint. Which one is best for YOUR lips?
After reading a butt-load of reviews about what brand of lip balm I should get, I came to the conclusion that Burt’s Bees lip balms were DOPE and what my dry, cracked AF lips were waiting for. Just FYI, this is not a #spon. I just love this product!
Imagine my googly-eyed stare when I frolicked to my nearest Sephora and came across a whole shelf of Burt’s Bees lip balms. Colours! Scents!! Moisture-levels!!!
My first thought was, of course, “Umm, I dunno, I think I may need all of them?” Which, I believe is rational behaviour but some may disagree. Maybe.
But after a swift right hook uppercut roundhouse-kick combo from a hoe (aka a slap on the arm by a friend), I “sort of” came to my senses and had a look online to find a comparison of the two I shortlisted.
It was the Ultra Conditioning Lip Balm with Kokum Butter and the Beeswax Lip Balm with Vitamin E and Peppermint. AKA ‘The One With The Silver Cap’ and ‘The One that’s Yellow All Over And Reminds Me Of Actual Bee Hives From Winnie The Pooh.’
But get this: turns out there were NO comparisons online. How does a lady make rational, informed decisions without very specific comparison reviews online? What was the best Burt’s Bees lip balm for me?
And then it came to me.
The BEST IDEA EVER!! (I’m prone to hyperbole, sue me – don’t actually sue me though, cause I’m the most innocent person ever!!)
I would just have to buy both.
… and yes, I realise that was one lip balm too many because I only have one pair of lips, but I’m an indecisive fool and this is how I find happiness so LAY OFF ‘KAY? On the Sephora Singapore website, the Ultra Conditioning Lip Balm currently retails at $12, while the Beeswax Peppermint Lip Balm retails at $10.
Anyway, my indecisive nature has brought you this gift! I tried them so you don’t have to!
The Best Burt’s Bees Lip Balm: Ultra Conditioning Lip Balm vs Peppermint Beeswax Lip Balm
Having used both for 3 months, I think I’ve pretty much CONQUERED (da-dum-TSH) this experience. I’ll make this easy for all-a-yous by breaking it down into a rating system with the three conditions that matter to me the most. This is based on the assumption (ass, you, me?) that you’re contemplating both.
Ultra Conditioning Lip Balm with Kokum Butter
Beeswax Lip Balm with Vitamin E and Peppermint
Other conditions I’d like to include that depend on personal preference are smell, texture, and long-lasting moisture.
I’d say theUltra Conditioning Lip Balm had a very faint smell, smoothr texture, and provided moisture for about four hours. Two if you lick your lips as often as I do.
The Beeswax Peppermint Lip Balm had a strong peppermint smell, had a waxier texture, and provided about an admirable hour of moisturisation.
I would like to add that because I had to find times to use both and unfortunately only had one pair of lips, I found that the lip balms were good for different purposes.
For example, the Beeswax Peppermint Lip Balm was matte so it didn’t reflect sunlight from my lips to peoples’ eyes, and easier to reapply throughout the day. Furthermore, the peppermint gave my lips a nice plump! Which I very much appreciate.
Consequently, I used my Ultra Conditioning Lip Balm before bed and my Beeswax Peppermint Lip Balm during the day.
